Regal Entertainment, the largest theater chain in the U.S., is continuing its "SuperTicket" promotion for next months' release of The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Regal's SuperTicket costs $20 above the regular movie ticket price and comes with a high-definition digital copy of the new movie ahead of its DVD release along with a digital copy of The Amazing Spider-Man through Vudu, a streaming service, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Regal began offering the promotion last year with the blockbuster releases of Paramount's World War Z and Warner Bros.' The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. The Knoxville, Tenn. based theater company also plans on continuing its SuperTicket business model for future releases.

Regal Entertainment Chief Marketing Officer Ken Thewes told the Times that the SuperTicket is about providing customers a movie experience beyond the theater while expanding the new business model other companies have also started experimenting with.

"We like being on the leading edge and letting our customers know that they can come to us for more than just seeing movies in the theater," Thewes said. "It's not a zero-sum game. People who consume digital movies also watch in the theaters."

Canadian theater chain Cineplex became the first entertainment company to adopt the new kind of business deal as it joined with Sony, Warner Bros., Paramount Pictures Canada and Universal Pictures last June, according to the Times.

Their first SuperTicket film was for last year's Pacific Rim.

The idea behind the SuperTicket was to generate more revenue during a time when attendance at movie theaters in North America has decreased, as well as to increase home entertainment sales while DVD revenues have declined.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 stars Andrew Garfield reprising his title role as Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, and sees the return of Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy and Sally Field as Aunt May.

The film is set to include a handful of infamous Spidey villains including the Harry Osborn version of the Green Goblin played by Dane Dehaan, Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon who becomes Electro, Paul Giamatti as Aleksei Sytsevich, aka the Rhino, and Norman Osborn played by Chris Cooper.

Considering all the villains Spidey will face off against and the web of spin-offs the movie is set to weave, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, directed by Marc Webb, is set to be the most ambitious Spider-Man flick to date as it opens to U.S. and Canadian theaters May 2.
