The latest version of Google Now brings in more voice commands. Making the digital assistant even smarter, the Google app's latest update is currently integrated with select features of the phone.

According to Gizmodo, there are nine new commands available on Google Now. However, it should be noted that the latest functionalities are available only to the Android version of the app.

The new voice commands will allow Google Now to toggle certain vital phone settings such as turning the Wifi on and off. After the user said "turn wifi off" or "turn wifi on," a shortcut will appear on the device's screen and the action is made automatically. Users can also manually change the setting by tapping the toggle switch. The same process also works for the Bluetooth feature.

Google Now, after the latest update, can now read the users' text messages aloud. Just saying, "read my messages" or "show my messages," will show the device's owners his or her last five SMS messages on the screen. Users can afterward ask Google Now to read the messages aloud and/or respond to them through using succeeding voice commands. The functionality can be helpful for users when they are driving, the Gizmodo report noted.

Messaging is also made easy by Google Now. By asking "call" or "text" then specifying the name of the contact saved on the phone, Android users can instantly send a message or reach them through a phone call.

Launching apps via Google Now is now possible, as well. Users need only to say "Open" followed by the name of the app.

Aside from apps, using the same manner also activates Google to open certain websites. Folks from Phone Arena said that they were able to open their website via the voice command.

Another voice command that makes the user's experience more convenient via Google Now is "play music." After mentioning the command, the app will launch the "I'm feeling lucky" radio option from Google's Play Music application which features a playlist of songs created based on the previous listening history of the device's user.

Meanwhile, to play songs on a different music app, users can use "play music in" plus mention the name of the music app. However, in this feature, playback won't start automatically, Phone Arena further noted.

Turning the flashlight on and off is now feasible through the Google Now app by simply saying "turn flashlight on" or "turn flashlight off." Other features activated via Google Now's new voice commands are setting the alarm, taking photos and videos and changing the brightness and volume levels of the smartphone.
