Music icon Aretha Franklin delivered an incredible performance at the 2015 Kennedy Center Honors in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, evoking an emotional response from many of the night's attendees, including President Barack Obama.

The Queen of Soul took the stage to perform her 1967 classic "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" in honor of singer-song writer Carole King.

King, who co-wrote the song along with her then-husband Gerry Goffin, was clearly touched by the tribute, clutching her chest and singing along throughout the ballad.

However, it was Obama's reaction that stood out to most viewers. Seated next to first lady Michelle Obama, the president appeared to wipe a tear from his eyes as Franklin sang the first verse.

Viola Davis, Gina Rodriguez and Rosie Perez were just a few of the other spectators also taken by the performance.

When the 73-year-old singer removed her fur coat and stood up to close the song on a literal high note, the entire audience was blown away. She finished to a standing ovation.

Franklin began her legendary career singing solos for her father minister C.L. Franklin's church as a young girl. The Memphis native went on to mild success as a gospel singer, before branching out to popular R&B music.

Throughout the years, Franklin recorded over 100 charted singles on Billboard, including 21 No. 1 R&B singles, with iconic anthems such as "Respect," "Chain of Fools" and "Think." By the end of the 1960s, she had earned the title of "Queen of Soul."

King, one of five 2015 Kennedy Center honorees of the night, is one of the most successful female composers and songwriters in history. She wrote or co-wrote 118 pop hits on the Billboard Hot 100 and 61 charted singles in the U.K.
