The Dallas Cowboys won't be playing for a Super Bowl this year, but they do have some big decisions to make this offseason. A backup quarterback is certainly needed as are a few players in the secondary, but a huge question mark surrounds defensive end, Greg Hardy.

What will team president, owner and general manager Jerry Jones do with Hardy?

Hardy is in the final year of his contract in which he made just under $600,00 in base salary. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent, and many believe the Cowboys should let him walk because of behavior issues.

But Hardy is a great player. Without Hardy, the Cowboys would take a huge hit on the defensive line and their pass rush would take a significant blow.

Hardy has had a big impact on the Cowboys pass rush this year despite missing the first four games of this season. Hardy accumulated six sacks in 11 games this year, the second most on the team even though he was double teamed for a good portion of the season. Only Demarcus Lawrence has more sacks for the Cowboys this year with eight. A lot of those sacks are coming because so many offenses are putting so much emphasis on stopping Hardy and it's freeing up room for Lawrence. For perspective, Lawrence had zero sacks last year without Hardy.

That type of impact can't be overlooked.

According to ESPN, Hardy will earn $500,000 if he records two sacks against the Washington Redskins this weekend.

Bringing back Hardy will definitely cost the Cowboys a pretty penny, especially considering he's only 27 years old. But, you could very well argue he is worth it. The Cowboys actually had the top ranked defense in the NFC East this season. It was their offense and injuries that let them down. Losing Hardy would be a huge setback.

If the Cowboys don't re-sign Hardy, there's a good chance they will draft an end in the 2016 NFL Draft.
