Attorneys for Camille Cosby asked a federal judge Monday to stay or delay an impending deposition she must give concerning a defamation case against her husband, Bill Cosby.

Camille Cosby is scheduled to appear in a Springfield, Massachusetts court Wednesday for the sworn interview. However, her attorneys are arguing that the deposition be postponed, pending an appeal on whether the comedian's wife should be required to testify at all, Reuters reports.

Last week, a federal magistrate denied a motion from Camille Cosby's attorneys to quash her involvement in the defamation suit. Now her attorneys have filed an emergency motion requesting the court consider her appeal of the magistrate's ruling.

The case concerns a defamation lawsuit brought forth by seven women accusing Bill Cosby of sexual misconduct. The women claim the comedian portrayed them as liars after they went public with the accusations.

Cosby counter-sued the women, saying they ruined his reputation with their allegations.

According to CNN, Camille Cosby was subpoenaed in December by the alleged victims to testify at the Jan. 6 deposition, doing so because she acted as her husband's business manager.

Camille Cosby's lawyers contend that the comedian's wife would be exposed to intimate questioning concerning the couple's private life.

"The Magistrate has suggested that the plaintiffs may ask Mrs. Cosby about the most intimate details of her marital life, including her husband's sexual 'proclivities,'" her attorneys wrote. "A trial objection will do Mrs. Cosby little good if the private and intimate details of her marital life are discussed during deposition and released to the media thereafter."

Camille Cosby married the legendary comic and television star in 1964 at the age of 19. Throughout last year's controversy, in which more than 50 women emerged accusing Bill Cosby of drugging and sexually assaulting them, Camille Cosby remained supportive and maintained her husband's innocence.

"The man I met, and fell in love with, and whom I continue to love, is the man you all knew through his work," she said in a statement, via CNN. "He is a kind man ... and a wonderful husband, father and friend."
