Danny Garcia is oozing with confidence two weeks before his scheduled showdown with Robert Guerrero. The 12-round welterweight fight will take place on Jan. 23 at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

Garcia, who will be fighting as a welterweight for the second time in his career, predicted a knockout victory against Guerrero. The former super lightweight world champion, who owns a perfect 31-0 record with 18 knockout victories, told BoxingScene that his opponent will not last for more than five rounds.

Garcia is coming off a ninth-round knockout win against Paul Malignaggi. The 27-year-old said that he is eager to collide with Guerrero because he knows a win will silence his critics, as it will be a clear proof that he is ready to become a star in the welterweight division.

"Guerrero comes to fight, and he's faced the best in the sport," Garcia said of his opponent via World Boxing News. "This is a huge opportunity for me to show why I'm a star, and there's no better place to do that than in Los Angeles, where stars are born."

Responding to Garcia's knockout prediction, Guerrero said that he will just come to fight and let his fist do the talking inside the ring. While he declined to predict the outcome of the bout, Guerrero, who is a Mexican-American, said that he is expecting a historic showdown between two Latinos later this month.

"If there ever was a fight that defined the word 'war,' it's this fight," Guerrero declared. "I guarantee this is going to be a historic fight. A Mexican-American vs. a Puerto Rican-American, it's a bitter rivalry. Danny Garcia is a great champion, and I know we're going to put on a tremendous show January 23. It's going to be fireworks."

Guerrero, who owns a 33-3-1 record with 18 knockout victories, is coming off a split decision win against Aaron Martinez in June, which came just three months after absorbing a lopsided loss to Keith Thurman in their showdown for the World Boxing Association welterweight title in March last year.

The upcoming Garcia-Guerrero showdown will be featured on Premier Boxing Champions on Fox. Boxing fans can also catch the action on BoxNation, which also feature featherweight champion Ryan Walsh and Russian boxing superstar Sergey Kovalev later this month.

"Garcia v Guerrero is the first live international fight on BoxNation of 2016 and we're delighted to add this potential thriller to the January schedule for our subscribers," BoxNation managing director Jim McMunn said.
