Each year Apple keeps the release of its products under tight lips. So, what's next for Apple?

A new iPad Air could be coming to shelves in late 2014, about one year after the unveiling of the first iPad Air Oct. 22, 2013. But, it could be sooner. Recall that the iPad 4 came out after only seven months of the iPad 3's release.

What can users expect from the iPad Air 2? Will it be called that? Or will it be called the iPad Pro? Or the iPad 5 or 6?

Here are some specs and updates on the device:

Screen Size

More than likely, Apple will keep the screen size of the iPad Air 2 pretty much the same as the first iPad Air at 9.7 inches. But, photos are being leaked of an all-in-one display. This means the LCD screen won't be separate from the rest of the unit like it was in the first iPad Air. Screen size could increase by a few milimeters and Apple could also manage to stick a bigger battery into the unit. This also means the overall thickness of the iPad could be reduced as well.

Faster Processor

This seems like a given. Apple always upgrades the processors of its new products when released. This processor will be the A8 processor. This is the newest processor, remarkably made by Samsung, for Apple to unveil. It'll also appear in the new iPhones that could be released later this year as well. Although the original iPad Air is fast enough already, the A8 will give the iPad Air 2 a boost that will make it the fastest tablet.

Touch ID

The iPhone 5s has this popular feature. It allows users the capability of unlocking their device with their fingerprint rather than a passcode. It didn't make it into the last release of iPads, so it's likely to be included in this release.

Better Camera

Although it's goofy to see someone holding up an iPad and taking a picture, more and more people are doing it. The 5.0 megapixel camera in the original iPad Air is no longer enough. Expect an 8.0 MP camera for the new iPad AIr.

Faster Wi-Fi

Apple's new devices will be upgraded to the new 802.11ac wireless internet capabilities. This might affect battery life, but Internet speeds will be faster.

Price

Expect the price to start at $499 for the entry level iPad Air 2.

Release Date

Signs are pointing to a quarter 4 release (October-December), but it could be sooner. Stay tuned.
