The popular "Assassin's Creed" video game franchise, known for its open worlds and its brilliantly executed stealth elements, action, and writing, will be receiving its fifth major installment, "Assassin's Creed: Unity," in Fall 2014, just in time for the holiday season. The game is set during the French Revolution of 1789. The new game has been developed for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC; there is no word yet about a Wii U release.

Development images for the game were released late in March, showing off its French 18th century imagery. Ubisoft has since said that work on this game has been ongoing for more than three years.  The footage was introduce by a disclaimer and published as alpha footage on the YouTube page of Ubisoft and on its homepage. The teaser shows a huge multitude of people on the streets of Paris and a striking Notre Dame cathedral.

There were reports that a supportive method for up to four players is included in this game. Tweets from shinobi602, a NeoGAF poster, stated two demos are planned for E3 this June: 1) emphasizing song the single-player mode; and 2) highlighting a new, 4-player cooperative mode. A source from Ubisoft corroborated this saying that "Assassin's Creed 5: Unity" had a cooperative mode with plans to reveal at E3.

The video includes a notice that the game is still in alpha testing which indicates that the game is still in progress and liable to change from what has been seen in teasers so far. As such, speculation will likely be running wild on gaming forums about what the game will keep and change before release for quite some time.

Amazon's price for "Assassin's Creed 5: Unity" on Xbox One and PS4 is $59.99 and $59.96 for PCDVD with free delivery.
