Argentina has the best camping grounds in Latin America. The country also offers the best outdoor experience so you can spend a fantastic time in such beautiful landscapes.

So take a break from the hustle and bustle of your daily life and opt for a memorable time with Mother Nature through camping in Argentina. No matter how long or how far you go, have a fun and exciting time during the trip with your family.

Then again, before hitting the trails in Argentina, make sure you are prepared. Grab a pen and paper and take note of what you need to do before you leave to achieve the best Argentinian camping experience:

Camp Equipment and Gear

The weather in Argentina can be very unstable. It tends to change often within the day so you have to be equipped with the right camping gear.

You don't want to get soaked when it suddenly rains. The strong winds can knock down your tent too, so having the appropriate equipment will ensure you can enjoy camping in Argentina.

There's no need to buy your own gear because Argentinian camp sites typically have them for rent.

Camping Grounds or the "Balnearios"

Most of the cities around the region have their own camping grounds and the locals call them "balneario." The overnight rates at these camp sites are mostly affordable and even free in some locations. The Guardian suggested these sites as great places to consider for camping:

1.Camping Luz y Fuerza, Cafayate

The place is within the northern wine country that is surrounded by vineyards. Of course, because of this, you can add wine tasting in your camping schedule. Drop by Bodega Nanni and El Porvenir where wine tastings always come with cheese and chorizo platters.

2.Camping El Palmar, Ubajay, El Palmar National Park

You can pitch tents inside the El Palmar Park which exudes that tropical rainforest feel. The palm-lined ground is a good site to see sunsets and campers can take a dip in the streams.

3. Camping Los Alerces, Patagonia

Located in El Bolson, campers can walk along the trail of Hielo Azul glacier. With the mountains in the backdrop, you can enjoy hiking and trekking in this camp site.

Types of Camping Grounds

Camping in Argentina has three types and how well your adventure will turn out depends on which one you pick. Thus, it is crucial to go for the one that meets your camping requirement.

1. Municipal -- this is the cheapest and most simple type. The camp sites are usually parks and vast open spaces. However, not all places have bathrooms.
2. Privado -- the locations are private and have all the amenities that campers can enjoy. You can compare this to staying at a hotel with all the facilities; why, these locations even have Wi-Fi!
3. Wild -- this is the ultimate camping site. You can pitch your tent at the foot of the mountain or along the river for rough camping experience.

Argentinians usually go to camping trips for "asados" or barbecues. Asados are usually accompanied by loud music so you can't expect a serene camping. In order to enjoy a quiet camping, avoid the peak seasons -- January, February, Semana Santa or Holy Week and July. Lastly, make sure to check bathrooms first before choosing your camping ground because most sites don't have them.
