Jessica Alba is the co-owner of eco-friendly company The Honest. She was able to attained big success in less than five years and she herself can't believe that her business is now a $1.7 billion empire.

She set-up The Honest Company in 2011. And although many people criticized her idea to start the business back then, she did not budge and went on with her plans.

"I went ahead despite many people telling me I was crazy," she shared in her Better Homes and Gardens interview.

Nevertheless, the actress-turned-businesswoman admitted that it was really hard to think that her dream is now a reality.

"It's amazing. I pinch myself. I still can't even believe it's here, because I felt like I was talking about it for so many years," she said.

Alba also shared that her previous stint in an Australian TV as well as the Australian lifestyle have greatly influenced and inspired her to start her enterprise saying: "I did a TV show in Australia for two years, and that's where I learned about homeopathy and homeopathic medicine."

She added, "There are so many natural products and natural things like tea tree oil and all this tea tree-based stuff that came out of Australia, so I would bring that home with me. I learned a lot."

On Vogue Australia, Alba further disclosed how she thought of building an eco-friendly company. Firstly, she shared that she was actually a vegetarian for years and that's how she learned about veggie pies.

She added that as a kid, she was sickly so her mom made her aware of the surroundings and how bad environment can lead to illnesses like asthma, allergies, obesity and cancers.

In any case, Alba knows that setting up a business and maintaining it is not easy. Thus, she gave some tips for achieving a goal.

She said that the first secret is to "Know your limits, and don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it."

And the second one is hard work, as she shared, "My grandmother and my mother showed me the value in hard work, resourcefulness, and common sense. I just want to make that path for women easier however I can."

For her third advice for entrepreneurs, she mentioned that the path would be rough so one has to endure, as she said, "Some days I am resilient and tough, and on others, I struggle and can be fragile. You can't let it all affect you too much. It's also important to remember to breathe."

Meanwhile, The Honest Company just celebrated its fourth anniversary and Alba threw a party for her awesome team. She recently posted a video of the celebration in her Instagram account and simply captioned it with "Celebrating 4 years."
