The WWE main roster has been plagued with injuries last year and at the start of 2016. It got an added boost with the return of Shane McMahon, but it may need more former talents. One of those superstars is Carlito, who was released in 2010 and last appeared at the 2014 Hall of Fame Ceremony.

Before Alberto Del Rio signed back with the WWE last October, Carlito was reportedly contacted by company officials if he is available to return. However, the Puerto Rican wrestler turned down the offer because the money was too low.

The 36-year-old failed a Wellness Policy test in 2010, but he refused to enter a rehabilitation facility for his addiction to painkillers. His father, Carlos Colon Sr., revealed in an interview that his son was indeed addicted to painkillers.

The WWE Hall of Famer and Puerto Rican wrestling legend said that it was due to his son's various injuries to his knee and back. Colon Sr. attributed Carlito's injuries to his finisher called "The Backstabber" that absorbs an opponent's weight on his knees and back.

He's Ready to Return

In a recent interview with Hannibal TV, Carlito revealed that he feels ready to make a comeback to the WWE. He added that he is in the best shape of his life and is as healthy as ever. However, the former Intercontinental and United States champion noted that it's in WWE's hand if they want him back or not.

"It's not up to me. I guess the ball is in their court. That's where I started, that's where I made my career and I haven't gone anywhere else so far," Carlito said. In his time away from the WWE, he only wrestled in a few independent promotions and his father's own company, WWC.

He somewhat showed loyalty to the WWE as he has not signed any deal with TNA, ROH, NJPW or GFW. Carlito got a massive pop from the crowd in 2014 when he inducted his father into the Hall of Fame.

"It's great seeing a lot of old friends that I haven't seen in a long time, a lot of the boys and people backstage, seeing Mr. McMahon and everyone. It's good to be back for a minute," Carlito said.

Would You Like to See Him Back?

Even though he never won the WWE championship, Carlito was one of the most entertaining superstars during the mid-2000s. He also has won multiple singles titles and tag team gold with his brother Primo.
