Keep your fingers crossed, Chewie. The extensive search for that one actor who will be given the privilege to fill the shoes of Harrison Ford to play the Han Solo role comes down to a handful of actors.

Disney and Lucasfilm have weeded out the list reported to contain the names of some 2500 actors. The chosen one will get the chance to be part of one of the most popular film franchises to date as he is set to star in a "Star Wars" spinoff.

The Shortlist

According to one report, tests were conducted in London recently to choose the would-be young Han Solo from the shortlist. And, some of the names that have surfaced include Jack Reynor from "Transformers: Age of Extinction" and "Macbeth"; Alden Ehrenreich from "Beautiful Creatures" and "Hail, Caesar!"; Emory Cohen from "Brooklyn" and the upcoming Brad Pitt movie "War Machine" and Taron Egerton from "Kingsman: The Secret Service" and "Eddie the Eagle."

Disney is mum on the details, declining to comment on the report, particularly regarding the casting of the film. But, according to sources of the report, the three actors were able to make the cut from a previous list of 10 actors.

This list also included Ansel Elgort, who was known for his starring roles alongside Shailene Woodley in the hit films "Fault in Our Stars" and "Divergent" series; and Miles Teller, who also happens to have worked with the actress in the "Divergent" series and the 2013 film "The Spectacular Now."

Disney and Lucasfilm were reportedly on the hunt for actors in their early 20s, but have also auditioned some actors who were as young as 17 and as old as 34.

The Young Han Solo Could Make a Cameo in Another "Star Wars" Film

While the "Han Solo" standalone film was also said to start its production not earlier than January of 2017, sources also speculate that the decision to choose the right actor for the role ahead of the schedule has something to do with another "Star Wars" spinoff film set to be released later in 2016. The chosen Han Solo actor may appear in the upcoming film "Rogue One: A Star Wars," the sources say.

The upcoming film will be under the direction of filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who are both known for their works on "21 Jump Street" and "The Lego Movie." It is scheduled to hit the theaters come May 2018.

So, who do you think among the aforementioned actors can give justice to the young Han Solo role? Let us know in the poll.
