A man in Mexico thought he successfully got away with stealing a trompo of pastor meat from a taco stand unnoticed. Little did he know that his meaty caper was all caught on camera.

In the video, the unidentified man can be seen coming out of a white car that parks right in front of a restaurant in Mexico City. The man walks up to the taco stand and grabs the trompo. He is then seen running back to the car before it drives away.

Tacos al pastor de trompo is a popular dish in Mexico. The trompo, essentially a spinning top-shaped stack of meat on a stick, is made by stacking layers of pork that have been marinated for several days. The large skewer cooks the meat while slowly rotating it, browning the entire mass evenly and tempting hungry passersby.

A trompo can weigh up to 60 pounds when its ready. But from the looks of the video, the thief didn't have much trouble stealing the heavy spit from the stand. The trompo appears thinner than usual, most likely from being carved throughout the day for tacos.
