Jeremy Lin could be headed back to the system where "Linsanity" was launched.

With news of Mike D'Antoni now being in the final stages of negotiating a deal to take over as coach of the Houston Rockets, rumors are circulating almost Lin could quickly be on his way to rejoining his former New York Knicks coach.

Lin, D'Antoni had Historical run with Knicks

The two previously teamed up for a magical 2012 run on Broadway where Lin averaged 18 points, eight rebounds and two assists over a 25 game stretch during which his legend was born.

While the matter of how D'Antoni and star guard James Harden would coexist ranks at the No. 1 question among Rockets' fan regarding the veteran coach's imminent arrival, the question of what Lin's possible addition could mean easily ranks as the second most intriguing possibility.

Lin has proven a natural fit for D'Antoni's uptempo, "seven seconds" or less for a shot offense, under which the Phoenix Suns and Steve Nash averaged 58 wins a season over his first four years at the helm.

Still, as natural of a fit as it may seem, the reunion won't come about easily, as the Charlotte Hornets' star guard figures to be among the most sought after free agents of the entire offseason class.

Lin Heavily Sought

The Hornets, Knicks, Spurs and Nets are all rumored to be aggressively chasing the 28-year-old veteran point guard, who averaged 11 points, three rebounds and three assists with the Hornets last season in helping them to a franchise record 48 regular season victories.

Though he has stressed money will not be the sole factor in selecting his next team and stability is at the top of his wish list, Lin is reported to be seeking a long-term deal in excess of $50 million.
