Although still several months away from its launch, the newest Pokémon legendaries for "Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon."

Solgaleo

The mascot for "Pokémon Sun" is Solgaleo. With the ability Full Metal Body, Solgaleo is a dual Psychic and Steel type Pokémon. The ability has never been seen on another Pokémon, and it'll not allow a Pokémon's stats to be lowered by the effects of an opponent's moves or ability.

Known as the Sunne Pokémon, it weights 507.1 lbs and over 11-feet tall.

According to a statement provided to Latin Post, "Honored as an emissary of the sun since ancient times, Solgaleo is referred to with reverence as 'the beast that devours the sun.' Solgaleo's body holds a vast amount of energy, and it shines with light when it is active. It has a flowing mane with a remarkable resemblance to the sun."

One of its moves is Sunsteel Strike, an attack that charges at the opponent with the force of a meteor and disregards the target's ability.

Lunala

For "Pokémon Moon," the mascot is Lunala. With the ability Shadow Shield, Lunala is also a dual Psychic and Ghost type and can perform the attack Moongeist Beam.

In a statement about Lunala to Latin Post, "Since ancient times, Lunala has been honored as an emissary of the moon. Referred to with reverence as 'the beast that calls the moon,' Lunala is constantly absorbing light and converting it into energy. With its wings spread to absorb the surrounding light and glittering like the crescent moon, it resembles a beautiful night sky."

Known as the Moone Pokémon, Lunala's signature Moongeist Beam attack releases a beam of light that also disregards the target's ability, similar to Solgaleo.

Lunala's ability is Shadow Shield, also not seen on previous Pokémon, which will allow a Pokémon to take less damage from an attack that lands when the Pokémon has full HP.

An Odd Pokédex

Remember the Pokémon Rotom? Its back and it'll affect the use of the Pokédex. Professor Kukui provides the special Pokédex known as the Rotom Pokédex, which has a Rotom inside the device.

"The Rotom Pokédex does much more than record Pokémon info -- it has its own personality. Besides showing the player's current location and their next destination, the Rotom Pokédex also provides advice on where to go next, based on the conversations players have with other characters," according to a statement from The Pokémon Company International.
