To stream or not to stream, that is the question. It used to be an age old debate, but with the advent of faster microchips in computers, modern WiFi routers and increased content selection, streaming media is the wave of the future.

Hulu Plus and Netflix are two of the biggest streaming media services on the planet. With wide-ranging selections encompassing TV dramas, art-house films, documentaries and more its no wonder that audiences are ponying up 8 buckaroos a month to pay for Hulu Plus and/or Netflix.

But which service is the best bang for your proverbial buck? Hulu brings forth a more modern user interface thanks to the use of lighter colors and whimsical navigation. Netflix adopts a darker, more mature user interface, that evokes the emotion of actually going to the cinema.

Both Hulu Plus and Netflix are fast and easy to navigate. If you're using one or both of these services on a home video game console, tablet computer or set-top box, you'll have no problem whatsoever swiping and clicking your way around. Unfortunately, having to type on a 'remote control' such as a DualShock 4 or iPad Mini is taxing. It takes far too long.

One downside to Netflix is the fact that the head honchos on the board decided to enact a new pricing scheme. In the not-too-distant future, new subscribers to the service will have a to pay a few dollars more per month for the service, without getting any new added value.

The cause for this price increase isn't that nefarious however. In order to continue to produce Emmy Award Winning Original Series programming like "House of Cards" and "Orange Is the New Black" takes cold hard cash.

Hulu has announced no such plans to raise its prices. Hulu also beats Netflix in one other way, it has a free-to-watch, no obligation service. Just log onto the website from a desktop of laptop computer (Apps need Hulu Plus membership to work) and enjoy new episodes of TV shows for free. The content is restricted to playing back at standard definition 480p versus HD 720p.
