T-Mobile's Simple Global international traveling plans have been a resounding success, the carrier said Tuesday, especially in Mexico.

Simple Global launched in October 2013 rid T-Mobile customers of data and text fees while roaming abroad and slashed the cost of phone calls to a flat rate of 20 cents per minute. The plan is available in more than 120 countries, and it's important to note that users will experience local surfing speeds. According to new data released by T-Mobile, Mexico, Canada, Italy, Germany, Japan, and South Korea are the top six countries where Simple Global has succeeded.

"From a consumer perspective, the largest country is Mexico. Part of it is because Mexico is our neighbor. Not surprisingly, the other large one is Canada," T-Mobile Vice President and General Manager for the Southeast Region Gabriel Torres told Latin Post over the phone. "In terms of top ten countries, certainly Colombia is there as well as Brazil."

"It's appealing to Latinos living in this country as well as travelers going to Mexico and other parts of Latin America," he added.

Since Simple Global's introduction, T-Mobile customers have been calling three times as often while abroad, and text seven times as often and use 28 times more data. A company press release reveals that more two million T-Mobile subscribers have utilized Simple Global in the last seven months.

"It is truly a very simple process because the customer doesn't need to do anything," Torres says. "In many situations the data roaming is turned off by default. [The customer] just needs to turn it on whether it's an Android phone or an iOS phone.

T-Mobile's Simple Global package is one of the network's many "Uncarrier" moves aimed at shaking up the U.S. mobile industry. T-Mobile has also done away with contracts and overage charges.
