If you never got the chance to play Flappy Bird when it was available in app stores, now is your chance. The addictive and outright hard-to-play game will be returning to app stores with new features, though its creator explains that it will be tweaked to make it less addictive.

It was its addictiveness which propelled the game to success at the beginning of the year. Although the game had been available since May 2013, its success did not begin until the beginning of 2014, when the app soared on the charts of most popular games. Dong Nguyen, the creator of the mobile app, had been the target of much criticism because of his app's impromptu rise in popularity. This, as well as its reportedly addictive nature, made Nguyen pull the game from app stores in February, but he said it'd be back.

Well, it has returned. According to CNBC, Nguyen will start selling an updated version of Flappy Bird come August. At its peak, the game generated $50,000 a day for Nguyen from ad-generated funds and was downloaded more than 50 million times, reports CNBC.

In an interview on Wednesday with CNBC, Nguyen said the game has been updated with a multiplayer option and will also be less addictive. Nguyen, however, did not specify how the game would be less addictive. He told CNBC that people ought to spend their day doing something productive rather than play his game, but he does not regret making it. He added that he has other games in the works.

There are also cheats available for the game, according to Jailbreak Matrix. These are said to be available via Cydia. Assuming that these cheats currently work, gamers have the chance to beat or tie the high score.
