Star Trek has been on going for decades and continued to give us the best adventures out of Earth. Now, a television series is on the plate with Star Trek: Discovery and sources indicate that they have found their lead star for the series, with a regular actress from the AMC's The Walking Dead.

According to IGN, Sonequa Martin - Green, playing Sasha Williams on the AMC's The Walking Dead has been recently revealed to be the one who will star in Star Trek: Discovery. Martin - Green is expected to have the role of Starfleet Lieutenant commander, as oppose from the normally Starfleet captains as we have seen in the previous years.

Even though she was casted in a new television series, it was announced that she will still continue her character in The Walking Dead.

Entertainment Weekly added that with this, Martin - Green will be back to CBS family wherein she has played Courtney Wells in The Good Wife. With the casting of Martin - Green, Star Trek: Discovery original showrunner, Bryan Fuller, will have his wish completed as he sees an African - American woman to lead the series.

Other characters involved in the series are Michelle Yeoh as Captain Georgiou, Starfleet Captain of Starship Shenzou, Doug Jones as Lt. Saru, and Rapp as Lt. Stamets. Three actors were chosen as Klingons, Chris Obi as T'Kuvma, a leader wishing to unite the houses, Shazad Latif as Klingon commanding officer and protégé Obi's character, and Mary Chieffo as L'Rell as the Battle Deck Commander of the ship.

The most awaited television series of Star Trek: Discovery is set to take off in May 2017 and will be much available to the CBS All Stream.
