Developer Naughty Dog aims to end 2016 on a strong note with the release of the newest update for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. Adding new 'Survival' mode, this brings the challenge level of the game up at notch.

Announced through the developer's Twitch livestream, the update was released on December 14 as a Downloadable Content (DLC) for those who own the latest Uncharted game. A playable version of the DLC was made available during the Playstation Experience early December.

The DLC was also announced to be 3.7GB big, which is justifiable based on the content. One of its major additions would be the Survival mode, which could be played alone, or via Co-Op. It has five difficulty levels: easy, moderate, hard, crushing and hardcore. In this mode, players will have to face 50 waves of enemies, some based from the game, while others are exclusive to this mode. Difficulty increases after every wave; and every 10 waves, the player will have to face a 'boss' round against the Pirate Warlords, according to Attack of the Fanboy.

As for rewards, players will receive relics for completing specific stages of the mode. The longer the player stands, the more relics they would receive, which is available in both solo and co-op mode. Additional unlockables include different versions of the Djinn Skull headgear for reaching the new level caps of 80 and 90, as well as new skins and customization items.

Speaking of levels, the co-op mode will be a clean slate for players, as everyone will start at level 1. Also, completion times for the new Survival mode will be stored in the game's server, so, as Dual Shockers notes, the developer expects players to compete for the fastest times.

Another addition for the game would be a 'King of the Hill' PvP (Player versus Player) mode, which would be under beta testing. In addition, two new maps, 'Train Wreck' and 'Prison' will be added to the game.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End was released worldwide in May 2016 for the Playstation 4.
