Emily Blunt, star of such films as "The Devil Wears Prada," "Young Victoria" and "Looper," did not expect that she would be reminded of her past dislike for Tom Cruise.

Blunt's sharpness and past comments about Cruise have come full circle since the two are both starring in the upcoming science-fiction film "Edge of Tomorrow" out June 6.

What did Blunt say? Back in 2005, in an interview with the Telegraph, a British newspaper, Blunt told the interviewer that she would rather be a "poor theater actress than star as a spear carrier in a Tom Cruise movie," E! News reported

Nine years later, on the red carpet promoting "Edge of Tomorrow," a Telegraph reporter reminded Blunt about the comments. At first Blunt denied making them by, saying, "I never said that. That's an awful thing to say." But the Telegraph reporter insisted and showed Blunt the article in which she said it. When Blunt saw the article, she roared with laughter and responded, "That is so funny. Well at least I'm not a spear carrier," E! News reported.

There is no word on whether or not Cruise has spoken to her about it, but the "Mission Impossible" and "The Last Samurai" star did not battle -- All he had were kind words about Blunt. Cruise, 51, revealed to Access Hollywood in an interview last week that he had pleaded with the director, Doug Liman, to have Blunt, 31, join the cast.

"I saw her work very early on and her work as an actress, and I just really admired her," Cruise said about Blunt. Cruise also gushed about how Blunt has had great taste in film and the choices that she has made in terms of scenes. "She has tremendous power on screen."

Cruise has apparently been a big fan of Blunt's work. Cruise talked more about Blunt's versatility as an actress from comedy to drama, US Weekly reported. Cruise spoke of Blunt's portfolio in 2012's "The Five-Year Engagement" to 2011's "The Adjustment Bureau."

"She's a great leading lady but a character actor. So I've been watching her for a long time," Cruise said.

Blunt is married to John Krasinski ("The Office"), and the couple has a newborn baby girl named Hazel.
