The continuous streak of protests in Chile had been causing inconveniences to the residents of the country for almost two months now. These protesters had gathered in the different major cities of Chile to let their opinion be heard regarding inequality and injustice which they feel dominant in the country.

Protesters had firmly stated that they will continue their stint until the government of Chile gives in to their request for changes in the current government and the betterment of the social situations of its oppressed citizens.

The Chilean protests had primarily started in the middle of October this year when the high school students of the country's capital, Santiago, had protested against the fare increase implemented by the government. This single protest had since then became the inspiration of the months' long protests of various groups dreaming that the government will hear their pleas such as higher pensions and wages. Some groups also protested for an improved healthcare system and cheaper education for the country's citizens.

The activities of many groups and organizations were disrupted because of these protests that continue to cause havoc in the many streets of Chile posing safety threats and insecurity among the citizens of the country.

One of the groups that these protests has affected is the activities involved with the football season in Chile. The Chile football season had had an early conclusion after the meeting of all the leaders of the country's professional football organizations.

The decision to stop the events for the Chile football season was because of the threat of security in Chile and to all of its citizens because of the never-ending protests of groups. These groups are protesting to acquire equality and justice for all oppressed Chilean.

From the eighty-six years of the professional leagues in the country, this is the first time that a Chile football season will be ending without proper completion. In 1973, the game was continued despite the Chilean coup d'état.

According to the statement released by the national football league of the country, the council of presidents of the different football organizations had agreed to stop the season with 42 to 48 votes.

The decision of the council includes the Primera Division and Primera B division. The decision had led the Universidad Catolica to be named as winners.

According to a statement of Universidad Catolica's President Juan Tagle, they had voted against the early conclusion of the football season in the country. Their sole reason was that that is not how they want to win in the season's game he, later on, added that he hoped that the nations recognize them as the official champions in this season's football league. He also expressed his sadness on how the football league had ended this season.

It was also agreed by the council that promotion will not be allowed in both divisions in the league. This will mean that the Santiago Wanderers will not be allowed a promotion for this season and the University of Chile will be saved from a demotion.
