With the NFL draft completed a month ago, teams across the league are looking at trade possibilities to improve their teams. Sometimes there are free agents out there on the open market that can be very valuable to a team.

The biggest name on the open market lately has been 27-year-old tight end Jermichael Finley. Finley used to be a great tight end with the Green Bay Packers and played a huge role in their Super Bowl run a few years ago. In 2011, Finley caught a career high 767 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns. However, lately, he has battled injuries.

Finley recently visited the New England Patriots. The Patriots have a little bit of a hole at the  tight end position because Robert Gronkowski is as injury prone a player as any in the NFL. Giving Tom Brady a new weapon could work out, however Finley would still have to pass league mandated health exam. The Patriots previously tried to trade quarterback Ryan Mallet, but were unable to find a buyer.

The Patriots did, however, officially sign linebacker James Anderson, who had a career high four sacks last season with the Chicago Bears.

Staying with the AFC East, Miami Dolphins defensive end Dion Jordan continues to be surrounded with trade talks. Jordan was drafted by the Dolphins No. 3 overall just last year and has only played one season for the team. He could bring in high value to bulk up the terrible offensive line that ranked last in the league in sacks allowed, but it looks unlikely at this point.

The Dallas Cowboys are hurting at tight end, especially after Sean Lee went down with a torn ACL. It comes at a really unfortunate time because the draft is already over and this defense is historically bad. And to add insult to injury, it happened in a non-contact practice. Most likely the Cowboys will look to their own roster to fill the void, however James Harrison and Jonathan Vilma are still available on the free agent market.

For teams that have a bad pass defense or are looking for leadership among their secondary, they may want to look at Ed Reed or Asante Samuel. Both ball hawks have shown to be extremely smart and most likely will get signed eventually.

The Oakland Raiders have been very busy lately. The team signed wide receivers David Gilreath and Rashaan Vaughn along with kicker/punter Michael Palardy. None of these signings are considered high profile moves to put the raiders over the top to beat the Denver Broncos in the AFC West, but only time will tell.
