Good times are about to end as hinted in the new teaser of Narcos: Mexico Season 2. According to an article by Hot New Hiphop, the Netflix drama, dropping in a little over a month, is a spinoff of the original Narcos which features the King of Cocaine Pablo Escobar, and in this upcoming season, it seems that Diego Luna's Felix Gallardo is finding that with his infamy comes many more snakes in the grass.

Three weeks ago Netflix released a date announcement video and the recent one gives out a bit more information about what is in store for the "Rockefeller of marijuana."

In the new teaser uploaded on YouTube featuring a background track of an eerie, slowed-down version of Blondie's "Heart of Glass" to establish the late-'80s setting, Gallardo can be seen with his crew seated around a table as they enjoy what luxuries their criminal activities have afforded them, a comparison to Jesus' "Last Supper".

The video transitions to Scoot McNairy's DEA agent, Walter Breslin listening in a van, putting on headphones as if infiltrating Gallardo's group. Breslin narrates in the video, "Backstabbing's hard work. It wears you out eventually. No one stays on top forever."

The narration continues as the camera moves underneath the long table showing everyone, except for Gallardo, holding guns. The agent says, "And no one is untouchable" and the camera focuses Gallardo's face showing fear and apprehension.

Gallardo's reign as leader of the Guadalajara cartel set up much of what is going on in Mexico now, so it's obvious there will be long-standing reverberations discussed throughout this season. It's interesting that Netflix isn't giving audiences a lot of exposition to go off of, but it's enough to whet the appetite for the full season's release in February.

The fiery second season of Narcos: Mexico is set to kick off on February 13, just in time for a Valentine's Day date. This marks the fifth installment of Netflix's Narcos' saga. Its first three seasons followed Medellin Cartel's Pablo Escobar and Colombia's illegal drug trade in the '80s. Narcos: Mexico, which premiered in November 2018, was originally pitched as the fourth season of Narcos, but has evolved into an independent series. It also shows occasional character crossovers from Escobar's Narcos.

Since the second season is yet to be released, you still have time to catch up if you haven't seen the first season of Narcos: Mexico also streaming on Netflix. Watch it now before the twist ending is spoiled!

According to Oprah Mag, Narcos: Mexico may be devastating, but it is also one of Netflix's most complicated and intelligent shows.

The first season of Narcos: Mexico has a score of 89% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 35 reviews with an average rating of 7.43/10. On Metacritic, season one has a weighted average score of 80 out of 100 which indicates "generally favorable reviews."

According to critics, "Dangerous, thrilling, and highly addictive, Narcos: Mexico's first season expertly expands the franchise by exploring new territory in the drug war's grim history and showcasing electric performances from Diego Luna and Michael Peña."
