Silvia’s Tacos Reopens on Monday: Owners Still Recovering from the Accident

The business owner of Silvia's Tacos in Groves will be returning for his business. A few months back, he had got into a deadly crash that almost took the life of his family.

When Miguel Lerma and his family were on their way home after visiting Mexico for Thanksgiving, a drunk driver had hit the vehicle they were on.

Closing the Restaurant

The Silvia's Tacos opened on April 1, 2019. After the accident, their family business was left with no choice but to shut down momentarily. They closed the business so that they can pay for the medical expenses for their recovery from the accident.

Lerma expressed his excitement for being able to serve the community again. 

Recovering from the Accident

It's been more or less three months since the accident. Lerma said that he and his family are still recovering from the accident. He stated that it will take a long time before they can completely recover from the accident.

Lerma's wife is still confined in their home. However, he is happy to report that his daughter Mia can walk again. 

Lerma shared that Mia was also able to attend her first school dance. The dance was held on Saturday. He said that she was excited about the dance. He expressed his joy as Mia was able to go and bond with her friends again.

Lerma said that their doctors advised that she can go back to school in two weeks. 

Good News

It is good news for the fans of their family business is that the Silvia's Tacos had reopened on Monday.

After three months of waiting for the reopening of the restaurant that offers signature sizzling tacos. It will be serving delicious treats again in Taft Avenue and Groves' 32nd Street.

An article from 12 News stated that the community had waited long for the reopening of the restaurant. 

Terra Green said that the restaurant was well missed. She shared how the restaurant was one of the top stops for many people in their community.

According to Green, the restaurant opens early in the morning and that refinery workers loved to eat breakfast there. The traffic in their community is tiring and the restaurant soothes their bad experience with traffic. 

Lerma shared how a lot of people showed up on Monday. Most of the people did not ask about the business. They asked about the situation of his wife and his family after the accident. He appreciated the concern that their neighborhood has for his family.

Lerma is confident that his family will recover from the accident. He said that the mental and emotional support given to them by their community helps him and his family recover. He expressed his gratitude for their community's support.

The Food

According to Lerma, their flour and corn tortillas are made from scratch. This is what makes their food special. They also use a secret seasoning for their dishes. 

Green said that she loves having breakfast and their special sauce offered in the restaurant. 

Silvia's Tacos opens from 5 am to 2 pm from Monday to Friday.
