The governor of California Gavin Newsom had released a statewide order on Thursday. The order requires the residents to go on lockdown, said a recent

In the entire COVID-19 crisis in the US, this the most restrictive order given by a state's governor. Starting Thursday evening, the order takes effect.

Workers in Critical Sectors

For people who work in critical sectors are still expected to go on duty despite the lockdown order. Those who work at grocery stores, pharmacy stores, banks, and other critical sector businesses are required to report for work.

According to Newsom, law enforcers will not be arresting violators. He believes that residents of the state will not need law enforcement to tell them that it is right to stay and home and keep them protected from the deadly novel coronavirus. He said that the order he released is open-ended and that it is a dynamic situation.

Basis of the Order

The decision to issue the order for a state-wide lockdown was the escalating total COVID-19 cases in the US.

The increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the country had made medical experts on a race on finding a cure to the virus. According to the country's infectious disease experts, there is still no drug to cure the deadly COVID-19.

Increasing Number of COVID-19 Cases in the Country

The total of people testing positive for the COVID-19 had escalated from a few thousand to at least 13,000 as more and more people had tested positive for the disease.

President Donald Trump stated that he had been requesting the United States Food and Drug Administration to break barriers to getting therapeutics to patients with COVID-19.

Drugs Used in the US to Treat COVID-19

According to the US president, the Chloroquine, an anti-malaria drug, and the Hydroxychloroquine, an analog of the Chloroquine will be available by prescription as a treatment for COVID-19 patients.

Trial Period for the Two Drugs

According to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases' director Doctor Anthony Fauci, the two drugs will soon be available in the country. However, he said that there should be a way to prove that the drugs are safe for use. Also, it should be proven that the two drugs work against the COVID-19, he added.

The two drugs are currently undergoing a process to make it available for COVID-19 patients in the context of a sort of protocol.

No Definite Cure for the Deadly Novel Coronavirus Illness

The doctor wanted to make sure that US citizens are knowledgeable that as of the moment, there are still no proved safe and effective treatments against the deadly novel coronavirus disease. However, according to Fauci, despite the inexistence of a cure, it doesn't mean that the government will not do everything in its power to make a treatment available for the sick citizens of the United States.
