Elon Musk and Grimes, also known as Claire Boucher, announced the birth of their baby. Their baby was born on May 4. However, what is making news among the online community is their newborn's name. It was reported that the name of their baby was X Æ A-12 Musk. The name was revealed on social media by the couple.

Is the Name Legal?

According to a recent article, the state law of California regarding naming babies, states that babies can only be given names using the 26 letters of the English language except for apostrophes and hyphens.

According to an article, David Glass, a family attorney, said that the baby's name was not illegal. However, there is a possibility that the state will not allow it, Glass added.

Their Options

According to Glass, Elon Musk can appeal to the state's decision regarding the name of their baby. However, Glass believes that the result of the appeal may not be in favor of Musk's request since California has been challenged with a lot of baby names with special characters.

Glass revealed that the state has been exerting efforts to change the rules in using special characters on baby names. However, there was a bill that was rejected due to some limitations. These limitations include the capability of the computers being utilized by the state to accomplish the birth certificates of its citizens. Also, with this change, computers will need to be upgraded, and that will entail costs.
