Soccer player Neymar da Silva Santos Jr. is the face of the Brazilian World Cup, and he's using his celebrity for good.

The 21-year-old soccer player has teamed up with Waves for Water to help those in need.

The collaboration comes with a little twist.

Neymar will ask soccer fans to "compete" so that these communities can receive water, according to People En Español.

The campaign asks fans to donate money through PayPal in the name of any of the 32 teams participating in the World Cup. Waves for Water said that 100 percent of the proceeds go to the cause.

"It saddens me very much that people in my home country, Brazil, have limited access to clean water, a gift that many of us don't pay enough attention to," he said in a statement.

PayPal has set up a website for the cause, us.competitionforgood.com

"A competition for good. Join the match and help us score against thirst," the site states. "Donations received will be used to purchase clean water filters for local communities in need, located in the cities in Brazil hosting the soccer games. When the games end, everybody in this competition is a winner by helping underserved communities with access to clean water."

For every $50, 100 people can be helped.

A map shows the 12 areas that will benefit from these donations.

Also, on June 12, fans can go to eBay to vote on items, such as shirts and hats, signed by Neymar. All of the money raised through eBay will also go to Waves for Water.

PayPal is also offering incentives.

When you order food through Ea24 June 12-13 and you use PayPal to pay, the company will donate $3 for every order.

The cause has raised $25,000 as of Tuesday afternoon.
