Get ready to mount up the new Ford Bronco that is reimagined after 24 years through Monday's relaunched of the Bronco SUV. We haven't seen much of the Bronco since 1996.

The Bronco was built from 1966 to 1996 and had a strong following. It even had high commands on high prices from collectors, said a report from USA Today.

The iconic American off-roader was discontinued in the wake of the famous O.J. Simpson car chase with the police that kept people glued to their televisions in 1994. Now, the SUV that made O.J. famous is finally getting a makeover.

It is priced just below $30,000

Ford put a price tag at the new Bronco starting at $29,995, including destination charges. This is just $205 higher a base Jeep Wrangler, the CNBC reported.

The top-end model that has more features and equipment can go as high as $60,000. According to Ford's website, there is a limited "First Edition" Bronco model that dons a price tag starting at $60,800.

The new models are similar in size to the Wrangler, one of the best-selling vehicles in the United States. It is the Wrangler's first direct competitor since the General Motors' Hummer that will be relaunched next year.

Jeff Schuster, president of the Americas and global vehicle forecasts for research firm LMC Automotive, said he expects it to "stack up nicely compared to the Wrangler."

The relaunch was originally confirmed by Ford in January 2017, but there had been many people waiting for the Bronco's return before then.

The unveiling was supposed to happen in June

According to Business Insider, the original plan for Bronco was to unveil it at the all-new Detroit auto show in June. However, the coronavirus pandemic got in the way of that idea. So a virtual showcase was done instead.

The launch comes at a crucial time for the Blue Oval. The brand's executives predicted bold gains in a market segment that has some room for growth. Ford reported an expected $5 billion loss for the second quarter, so the Bronco plays a vital role in the company's portfolio.

Ford global director of consumer insights Winston Landin said the project started several years ago. The remaking of the SUV took its designers thousands of hours in the field. It is an attempt to hold on to nostalgia for the long-gone vehicle with its return.

"The foundational principle in the beginning was really the fact that the Bronco had already been a brand and there's a strong heritage around the Bonco," Landin said. "That's important because the vehicle would need to deliver what's true for the Bronco - capability, durability and of course the design. There's a lot of emotional connection that people had with this specific brand."

"It's a long time coming," said Schuster. "The market is waiting and ready."

The new Ford Bronco isn't just an SUV, it features three vehicles as parts of the "Bronco family." It also has the standalone and smaller off-roading brand called Bronco Sport.

The Ford Bronco will be built at the assembly plant in Wayne, Michigan, while the Bronco Sport will be built in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico.
