The WWE or the World Wrestling Entertainment has recently taken a turn for the wild and weird. The recent events have captured the attention of many fans, with cameras fully ready to capture that.

Recent weeks have seen wrestling fans tuning in to "dog collar match" and "casket match." But Sunday's gimmick was one for the books.

Extreme Rules: Horror Show served as the inspiration for Sunday's pay-per-view lineup. One of the matches saw Seth Rollins pitted against all-time favorite Rey Mysterio in an "Eye For An Eye" event, the Yahoo News reported.

The rules are simple: The match goes on until either man losses an eye. The match made fans tune in, wondering how the wrestlers were going to pull off the act.

Who lost the match?

On Sunday, Rollins secured the win after pried out Mysterio's right eye using the corner steps. The camera showed the wrestler writhing in pain, while clutching his eye. A few feet away, Rollins threw up.

The result was expected. Mysterio had been competing in matches over the last several weeks without a contract.

In a statement released by WWE Digital, it said the longtime wrestler was rushed and confined at a local medical facility. The star was reportedly responding to treatments. According to medical experts, there is a high chance that Mysterio's optic nerves were not severely injured. They also said the wrestler may regain his vision.

In a report by Cinema Blend, it claimed that one major reason why Mysterio lost the match may be so WWE could easily write him out of the show if he chooses not to lock in a deal with them.

However, if the wrestler decides to sign a contract with WWE, the program could confirm "reports" that doctors successfully restored Mysterio's sight.

Introducing Rey Mysterio

The 5-foot-6 wrestler known to the world as Rey Mysterio was born in San Diego, California in December 1974. He was trained by his uncle Rey Misterio, Sr.

Mysterio debuted as a pro wrestler in 1989 in Mexico. The early years of his wrestling career taught him the Lucha Libre high flying style that had become his trademark in WWE.

Mysterio made his debut in WWE in July 25, 2002. He joined the lineup of SmackDown! And fought against Chavo Guerrero for his first match.

He eventually started a feud against WWE alum Kurt Angle. Their feud ended after Angle successfully forced Mysterio to submit to the ankle lock in a match at SummerSlam.

He later formed a tag team with Edge, but lost against Angle and Chris Benoit in the finals of No Mercy.

Mysterio and his wife, Angie, have two children. Their son, Dominik, was born in 1997. Their daughter, Aalyah, was born in 2001.

Mysterio bears tattoos of the names of his children and his wife. His family appeared on wrestling shows with Mysterio, including a storyline between Rey and the late Eddie Guerrero.
