Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, also known as "El Mencho," the Jalisco New Generation Cartel leader, has been the number one on the most wanted list of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). He has a bounty reward of $10M for anyone, who can give any information on his whereabouts.

The Jalisco New Generation Cartel or CJNG has made headlines in June after the group attempted to assassinate Mexico City's police chief. The assassination has led to the deaths of two security guards of the police chief and one civilian.

According to a recently published article in The Guardian, El Mencho has reportedly bankrolled the construction of his own private hospital. It was also found that El Mencho is now seeking treatment for his kidney disease. There are speculations that he will use the hospital to have his treatment.

The news about the construction of his private hospital came after a viral social media video showed numerous heavily armed men of CJNG. The video also showed how notorious and dangerous the cartel is. However, the Mexican government questioned the accuracy of the video.

According to a published report in El Universal, El Mencho built the hospital in El Alcíhuatl, a village about 250km south-west of Jalisco's capital, Guadalajara.

In Latin America, cartels keep medical professionals in their payroll to avoid government hospitals in the event that security forces shoot them.

It was also reported that aside from using the hospital to treat El Mencho's kidney disease, the hospital is also being used by the cartel's employees and locals. The Villa Purificacion, where the hospital is located, is the stronghold of the cartel.

In 2015, an army helicopter was shot down with a rocket-propelled grenade in an attempt to capture cartel's leader El Mencho.

In 2018, DEA declared El Mencho as the top priority and announced a bounty of $10 million for anyone who can give any information on his whereabouts. El Mencho, until now, remains in hiding and is suspected to be surrounded by heavily armed men.

Meanwhile, El Mencho's son and daughter were extradited to the United States to face the drug trafficking charges filed against them, while their father remains free.

El Mencho has replaced Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzman as Mexico's public enemy number one.

According to an organized crime expert Chris Dalby, who studies Mexican cartels, authorities are now considering El Mencho as their top priority and public enemy number one.

The CJNG is involved in different crimes. It was reported to have smuggle huge quantities of cocaine, marijuana, and fentanyl into the United States. They are also involved in the trafficking of firearms, people, and fuel. Moreover, the cartel was also reported killing members of their rival groups.
