Social distancing and wearing of facemasks are just two of the best precautionary measures that best combat the infectious and deadly COVID-19. However, many are still not following it despite the recent resurgence of the virus linked to public gatherings in the country.

On Friday night, dozens of people or between 100 to 150 law enforcement personnel or first responders attended a party at a Los Angeles bar. According to a published report on CNN News, these people did not wear facemasks nor observed social distancing.

Spokeswoman of the bar said that the party was attended by different first responders to celebrate their profession. Report about the party was tipped off from a credible source who knows the event according to CNN News.

The attendees in the party can be seen outside through the bar's window from the sidewalk. Attendees were seen drinking cocktails under the flashing lights to club music, loud enough that it vibrated security bars. Additionally, attendees entered the bar through the back door.

Lisa Strangis, a spokeswoman for 1933 Group, which owns the bar on North Vine St, said that the Sassafras Saloon owners rented the bar out to someone who wanted to "honor a group of first responders."

Meanwhile, Strangis declined to name the attendees of the bar party. She did not also name as to what agency the responders belonged to. However, she said that renters paid the space, and the 1933 Group staff and employees worked the event.

Additionally, she also denied that around 100 to 150 attended the party that night. When she was asked how many attended, she declined to answer the question and did not provide the number of attendees. Moreover, Strangis did not also give details about who hosted the party because it is private for her.

A man spoke to the CNN News that night and said they don't have any COVID-19 concern because everyone is either groups of families or work at the same place. The man also added that everyone had been tested for the virus. That is why he is confident to say that everyone inside does not carry the virus.

The man who spoke with the news outlet declined to be named. He said, "Everybody's spaced there. Everybody's wearing things. Everybody's getting temperature checks." However, the event raises concerns because the number of infections in California continues to increase.

During the party held in Los Angeles, the number of COVID-19 infections in California has surpassed over 500,000 according to the official tallied data of the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center. On Sunday, the state has recorded more than 9,000 deaths since the pandemic began.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health released a statement on Sunday. It said, "We are investigating reports of a private indoor party and remind all businesses that have been ordered to close indoor operations that there are no exceptions. This is exactly the situation that puts our entire community at unnecessary risk."

Health experts and officials repeatedly warned to avoid large gatherings in this time of the global pandemic. They firmly believed that is one of the several causes of the increase of COVID-19 infections in the country when they see the restrictions in June.
