President Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden showed how differently they view the pandemic with their campaign rallies taking the road Saturday as COVID-19 cases surge.

Trump addressed thousands of his supporters in a jam-packed, in-person rally in North Carolina, a battleground state. He said the U.S. was turning the corner in the first against COVID-19.

He mocked Biden's rallies as "small" compared to his events, said The Hill.

Trump also held rallies in Florida, Washington, Ohio and Wisconsin, FOX News reported.

Meanwhile, Biden addressed some 130 supporters in cars at a drive-in rally in Pennsylvania.

In the event, he warned of a grim winter while facing the pandemic unless the Trump administration worked better in handling the disease, reported Reuters.

Nationally, Biden is winning in opinion polls. But, looking at the battleground states, Trump is running closer.

Trump Pitches Fast Recovery from COVID

Speaking in front of his supporters in Robeson County Fairgrounds, Trump pitched fast economic recovery from the pandemic. He added that the country will be held back on progress if Biden wins.

He said the election was a choice "between a Trump super recovery and a Biden depression."

Trump told that crowd that he would bring "prosperity" and "epic job growth" to the country.

It's certainly something many Americans are eager to hear after months of losing business or being put out of work.

He remains optimistic despite the growing coronavirus caseload that has reached records heights.

There were 83,757 infections reported Friday. It topped the July 16 record of only 77,362, according to John Hopkins University.

Trump Comments on Biden Rally

Trump also said he watched the Pennsylvania stop of his rival on that same day.

The event was a drive-in rally to allow for social distancing, similar to other campaign events held by the former vice president.

Trump mocked this idea, saying the crowd was too small.

"There were so few cars. I've never seen an audience like this," he told the crowd that appeared to be packed together with only some of them wearing face masks.

He added that he didn't think "Biden had the kind of sense" to hold that kind of rally as the audience was just a "tiny, tiny little crowd."

Biden Calls Trump Supporters 'Chump'

Going to Biden's rally, he was irritated and lashed out at a group of Trump supporters who made an appearance at his rally, reported New York Post.

The group was shouting into microphones near the rally. They were driving cars draped with American flags and Trump campaign banners.

They took over the parking lot where the candidate can easily hear them and they can try to shout him down and honk horns at him.

"We don't do things like those chumps out there with the microphones," he told the crowd at Bucks County Community College in Newtown.

Biden also warned about the cold months ahead when the pandemic could get harsher due to a resurgence of the virus.

The drive-in rally was limited to four passengers per vehicle.
