Secret Service has reportedly hired a costly security company to do surveillance on President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration ceremony on Jan. 20.

The said security company was named as Showcall Security Services based on federal documents obtained by TMZ, as reported by TMZ.

The firm has reportedly gained a $7.5 million contract for the inauguration surveillance job. A Showcall arm, named Checkmate, is set to be deployed during the inauguration.

The said division touts temporary deployable security assets that make hardened perimeters. The perimeters can reportedly stop vehicle-borne threats, including attempted weapons hand-offs.

Showcall's division also noted that they provide robust access control programs and advanced surveillance and threat detection systems. The firm added that these features use data analytics.

Checkmate also offers large-scale events, which include a mobile command post, as well as all types of tactical barriers, anti-scale fencing, golf carts and gators, light towers, traffic control, mobile power generation, tenting, and portable bathrooms, according to a report.

The news of hiring an expensive security agency comes after it was reported that the president-elect's inauguration ceremony will be limited as compared to events in the past years due to the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The safety protocols in the event will also be designed to prevent a superspreader scenario. The ceremony's scope was recently announced by Biden's Presidential Inaugural Committee.

They said that January's event will have an extremely limited plan, adding that the parade after the swearing-in ceremony will also be reimagined.

However, the PIC said that despite many changes, some traditions will be practiced such as Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris taking their oath outside the Capitol.

The PIC then urged the public to avoid travelling to the National Mall for a huge gathering.

They instead encouraged people to participate in the activities of the inauguration from the comforts of their homes while watching it on television.

Earlier this month, Biden said that he wanted U.S. President Donald Trump to attend his inauguration in January and shake his hand during the ceremony.

Biden said that he thinks it would be important that they were able to create a peaceful transfer of power.

"With the competing parties, standing there, shaking hands, and moving on. I really worry about the image we're presenting to the rest of the world," Biden said.

The president-elect also discussed the role his family will be playing once inside the White House.

Biden said that his son Hunter will not be pushing for business opportunities that could be in conflict of interest while he is president. Biden made the statement during his first interview with Harris on CNN.

During the interview, they talked about the ongoing pandemic and the role Harris will play in the incoming administration.

Meanwhile, Trump has still refused to concede this year's presidential election to Biden despite the Electoral College declaring Biden's win.
