Vice President Kamala Harris posted a more fitting tribute to fallen military Sunday, May 30, a day after posting a "celebratory" Memorial Day post, telling everyone to "enjoy the long weekend."

The vice president quickly faced criticism for her tweet with no mention of Memorial Day or honoring fallen soldiers. Kamala Harris received backlash days after she partnered with private companies to curb the migration from Central America into the United States.

Kamala Harris Garners Backlash Over Memorial Day Post

In her controversial tweet, Kamala Harris posted a photo of her with a tone-deaf statement prior the Memorial Day. The tweet gathered different reactions from people online.

One Twitter user asked the vice president if she was aware that the long weekend is intended for honoring those who sacrificed for the nation.

Youtuber Drew Berquist also slammed Kamala Harris, saying that the vice president was "disgusting" for not mentioning the reason for the long weekend.

Another Twitter user also expressed her disappointment over the tweet of Kamala Harris, whom she said she likes and supports.

Daily Mail reported that the "long weekend" tweet of the vice president comes hours after Kamala Harris posted a tweet praising Midshipman Sydney Barber, who became the first Black woman to serve as Brigade Commander at the U.S. Naval Academy.

Memorial Day, which is scheduled on Monday, May 31, is an official federal holiday intended to commemorate members of the U.S. Armed Forces who gave their lives in combat or who have later died as veterans.

Kamala Harris Honors the Fallen Military After Backlash on Memorial Day Post

On Sunday, Kamala Harris posted a tweet that paid tribute to the fallen military.

"Throughout our history, our servicemen and women have risked everything to defend our freedom and our country," Kamala Harris tweeted.

The vice president added that as the nation prepares to honor the fallen military on Memorial Day, Americans should remember the soldiers' "service and sacrifice."

But some people still expressed their disappointment to the vice president. A Twitter user said that Harris' tweet about honoring the fallen should have come first before the "long weekend" tweet.

Meanwhile, a Twitter user expressed gratitude to the vice president as they wished her a "long weekend."

Another Twitter user, who identified himself as a veteran, said that "the vice president can communicate both messages if she wants to."

According to Daily Mail, the vice president did not do anything over the weekend for Memorial Day. On the other hand, President Joe Biden gave 10-minute remarks at the Veterans' Memorial Park near Delaware Memorial Bridge on Wilmington on Sunday.

Prior to his speech, Biden attended a church service and visited his son Beau's grave located in Brandywine. It was his son's sixth anniversary of his passing from brain cancer.
