A TikToker bride received backlash from the TikTok community after asking her bridesmaids to pay individually for a bachelorette trip to Mexico.

Lisa Torres, also @lisalovesrandom on TikTok, told Insider that she gathered criticisms and backlash after posting the video and how she handled those who reacted negatively to what she decided to do for her wedding.

In June, Lisa Torres shared in the video-sharing app about the "transparency letter" she gave each to her bridesmaids that laid out her expectations for them in her wedding, New York Post reported. The video she posted on TikTok garnered a lot of attention, with 4.1 million views in just a few days.

In the TikTok video where Lisa Torres explained why she asked her bridesmaids to pay for the trip in Mexico, different sympathies stirred, including one TikToker who said that couples should pay "everything" for their weddings.

Another user further noted that what Torres did was "tacky" because she was the one asking for people to be at their wedding.

As negative comments proliferated in her TikTok video, Torres said she learned something about the trolls.

"I learned the actual definition of a troll because I never knew what it meant," Torres said, adding that at first, she assumed that trolls were people making rude comments.

She then noted that she focused more on positive people to prevent the negative comments from getting into her.

Tiktok Viral: TikToker Bride Reveals the 'Transparency Letter'

After Torres' posted the video about her bachelorette trip to Mexico with her bridesmaids paying for their expenses, the TikToker bride posted another video revealing the transparency latter she sent to her bridesmaids.

@lisalovesrandom argued in the video that she wanted to "introduce the concept of normalizing brides being transparent with their bridesmaids" on what to expect in the bridal party. She noted that the letter was sent to allow bridesmaids to "say no" if they do not want to be part of the commitment.

In the letter, Lisa Torres included how she wants her bridesmaids to be dressed during her big day and the trip in Mexico with its timeframe and cost amounting to $500, which include the airfare, stay, and drinks.

Torres also included other potential costs and frequently asked questions for her bridesmaids.

"Other brides want their bridesmaids to cover the costs that bridesmaids are traditionally responsible for," said Torres in the video.

Bridesmaids to Cover Costs of the Bachelorette Party

Keeping Up With the Bulls noted that the average amount spent at a bachelorette party is about $537 or more, depending on the party's location.

Keeping Up With the Bulls added that although assuming that a bride will cover for most of the expenses, every group differently handles who pays for the costs of the bachelorette party.

Sometimes, like what the TikToker bride asked her bridesmaids, the group of bridesmaids pays everything for the bride, and sometimes the bride insists on paying for everything.
