Love is in the air, and the sports world has a new potential power couple on its hands. Pro golfer Dustin Johnson and girlfriend Paulina Gretzky, who is the daughter of hockey great Wayne Gretzky, have confirmed via social media that they are engaged.

Early Sunday morning, the couple went public with the news after Dustin Johnson posted a picture of the ring on Gretzky's hand to his Instagram account with the caption: "She said yes!!!!!" The engagement comes as a bit of surprise given the couple's relatively short period of courtship.

"Reports that Gretzky was dating the PGA star first surfaced in early January, and by February, the pair became increasingly open about their relationship, posting intimate photos on Instagram. In April, the hockey heiress attended the 2013 Masters Tournament to show her support for her beau," reports the Huffington Post.

News of the engagement quickly went viral online, though most likely not because of the size of Johnson's fan base. No, it's actually Gretzky who has accumulated quite the following over the years. So just who is this hockey heiress turned golf royalty?

Gretzky's fame arose from a variety of factors. Certainly, being the daughter of the man nicknamed "The Great One" certainly helps one's reputation, but being scaldingly hot and not afraid to take racy pictures definitely helps as well.

In fact, Gretzky has even gotten in trouble with her father before for the way she promotes herself online, even shuttering her Twitter account after being chastised for some of her selfies. It is worth noting, however, that there is some legitimate talent behind that pretty face.

"Paulina Gretzky scored a television hit with her song "Collecting Dust" when it was featured on MTV's Laguna Beach. The forums, message boards and chat rooms for MTV's hit show were flooded with comments, questions and requests for the song," notes a blurb on her personal website.
