U.S. President Joe Biden said that the leaked draft opinion of the Supreme Court regarding the abortion case Roe v. Wade would represent "radical" and "fundamental" alterations in the rule of law.

Biden told the press at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland that he is concerned that people are going to decide a woman does not have the right to choose after 50 years, as reported by Yahoo News report.

A report from POLITICO published the draft of a 98-page majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito. He stated that the court's decision over the Roe v. Wade case was "egregiously wrong," adding that it must be overruled.

Alito also referred to the 1992 Planned Parenthood v. Casey case, reaffirming the Roe case.

The Supreme Court judge said that it is time to "heed the Constitution" and place the issue of abortion to the elected representatives of the people.

Pres. Joe Biden on Supreme Court Leaked Draft Opinion

President Joe Biden said that the drafted opinion would affect every other decision in relation to the notion of privacy thrown into question.

In an ABC News Go report, the president said that the "codification of Roe" would make a lot of sense.

Biden said in a statement that they do not know whether the draft is genuine or reflects the final decision of the court. He pointed out that his administration argued strongly before the court in defense of the Roe v. Wade case, adding that it recognizes the Fourteenth Amendment's concept of personal liberty.

Biden also said that Roe has been the "law of the land for almost 50 years." He added that basic fairness and the stability of the law demand that the law should not be overturned.

He also made a second point that he directed the Gender Policy Council and the White House Counsel's Office to prepare options for an administration response to targeted attacks on abortion and reproductive rights.

The president said that his administration will be prepared when any ruling is issued.

Biden said that the country will need more pro-choice Senators and a pro-choice majority in the House to adopt legislation that codifies Roe if the Supreme Court does overturn Roe.

The court has acknowledged that the draft is "authentic." However, it said that it was not a decision of the court and not final.

Supreme Court Over Roe v. Wade

Protesters have gathered outside the court, clamoring for members of Congress to hear their pleadings.

Meanwhile, Republicans have accused liberals of masterminding the leak to intimidate the court while Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. ordered a probe, according to The New York Times report.

Sen. Chuck Schumer called the leaked draft opinion "an abomination," while Speaker Nancy Pelosi accused the court of "brazenly ignoring" its own precedent for 50 years.

Drafts routinely change as they are circulated among the justice, making objections, as well as offering suggestions.

The court's decision would mean a defeat for liberals who have long championed protecting women's right to choose the procedure against years of efforts to revoke the ruling.
