California Stimulus Check

Qualified residents in California will receive a check for either $600 or $1,200 under two stimulus packages passed last year, namely Golden State Stimulus I and Golden State Stimulus II.

California residents can also receive a check for up to $1,100 under the second package.

Some may even receive lower payments under GSS II depending on whether they qualified for GSS I and other factors.

California residents who earn less than $75,000 a year and those who filed their taxes by Oct. 15, 2020 will qualify for the fourth stimulus check payments.

The state's Franchise Tax Board noted that residents may qualify for one or both stimulus payments, urging Californians to check their eligibility for their checks.

Earlier, California Gov. Gavin Newsom has announced a gas rebate for California residents as gas prices continue to skyrocket on the west coast.

State Democrats are proposing other ways to get money into Californians' pockets, which include sending $200 to each taxpayer with an adjusted annual income of less than $250,000.

Households with children would receive $200 per child as well, as reported by Forbes.

Fourth Stimulus Check Update

The state of Delaware is eyeing to issue a tax rebate by the end of May, with individual filers seen to receive $300 while couples who filed jointly can expect a rebate of $600.

Delaware Department of Finance noted that the state expects to send the first round of payments based on 2020 return data.

A one-time tax refund of $125 could go into effect in the state of Indiana, while Hawaii is discussing a possible tax break for all Hawaii taxpayers.

Hawaii residents can receive $300 if they are earning less than $100, and $100 if they are earning more than $100, according to a Marca News report.

Meanwhile, New Mexico is expecting to release a one-time tax break of $250 for single filers and $500 for married filing jointly.

There will also be a refundable child tax credit of up to $175 per child, which is set to take effect on Jan. 1, 2023.

The federal government has released three stimulus checks since the COVID-19 pandemic started.

The last check issued was worth $1,400 in March 2021, keeping around 11 million people out of poverty.

The Hill reported that Elaine Magg, a senior research fellow at Tax Policy Center, does not believe another stimulus check is likely while U.S. President Joe Biden administration works with Congress to come up with a legislative measure addressing inflation rates.

Some state governors have taken the matter into their own hands by issuing their own form of stimulus.
