Three Korean women were shot and injured after a gunman opened fire at a Dallas hair salon in Texas on Wednesday, according to police.

In a Facebook post, the Dallas Police Department said deputies responded to a shooting at the Hair World Salon at around 2:20 p.m.

People reported that the victims were identified to be the salon owner, a customer, and an employee. They were all Korean women.

Police said each victim was shot in their extremities and was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

After investigating, authorities said the gunman was a Black male wearing an all-black outfit. They described him as "approximately 5'7 to 5'10", thin build with curly medium length hair and a connecting beard."

Police said the suspect walked into the salon, started shooting, and fled the scene in an "unknown maroon minivan."

Investigation of Dallas Hair Salon Shooting in Texas

In a media briefing Wednesday, Police Sgt. Warren Mitchell said a motive for the shooting has yet to be confirmed. NBC News reported that investigators do not have any indication that the shooting was a hate crime. However, they noted that they are not ruling out that possibility.

Law enforcement released video surveillance stills of the suspect, which seemed to appear that he was holding a large rifle-like weapon, and the vehicle he left in.

Mitchell said that it was disturbing for whatever reason, whether it was an argument or just a disagreement, to just go to the salon and start shooting.

Mitchell noted that the suspect wanted a quick getaway when he fled the scene in an unknown model maroon-colored minivan, CBS News reported.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. The investigation is ongoing, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has been called to assist in the case.

FBI's field office in Dallas told NBC News that the agency is coordinating closely with the Dallas police.

U.S. Mass Shooting

According to News Nation Now, data from The Gun Violence Archive suggests that mass shootings so far in 2022 are happening in cities like Dallas, Texas; Shreveport, Louisiana; and Buffalo, New York.

In April, six people were killed while 12 others were injured in a shooting in downtown Sacramento. The incident is reportedly one of 119 mass shootings so far this year.

In April, authorities in South Carolina had also investigated a shooting at a nightclub that wounded at least nine people. It was the second mass shooting in the state and the third in the nation during the Easter holiday weekend, according to KSAT News.

The two shootings came just a day after gunfire was heard at a busy mall in the South Carolina state capital of Columbia.

Nine people were shot, and five people had other kinds of injuries while trying to flee the scene at the Columbiana Centre. Columbia Police Chief W.H. "Skip" Holbrook said the victims ranged from 15 to 73 years old and none faced life-threatening injuries.
