Johnny Depp was reportedly working on a $301 million deal to return to the Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise; but according to EOnline, a representative of the actor has refuted the reports land said that "this is made up."

A source earlier said that Disney is very interested in working on their relationship with Depp, adding that the entertainment company is very "hopeful" that Depp will forgive them and reprise his role.

Pirates producer Jerry Bruckheimer was asked back in May if Depp would be back for a future project, which he answered "not at this point," adding that the future "is yet to be decided."

A source close to Disney made the $301 million deal claims in an interview with Australian outlet Poptopic, according to a New York Post report.

JohnnyDepp played the role in five Pirates movies over the last 19 years before Disney dropped him from the sixth and final installment in the wake of the 2018 Washington Post op-ed of Amber Heard.

Depp claimed the op-ed defamed him as a domestic abuser, which reportedly caused him to lose out on a $22.5 million payday.

The source alleged to Poptopic that Disney has reached out to the actor before his defamation trial against Heard and asked whether he would be interested for another pirate film or two. The source further claimed that the studio has already written a draft for a film about Jack Sparrow.

A person familiar with the matter also said in an interview with People magazine earlier this month that there is too much "potential box-office treasure" for the character that is deeply embedded in the Disney culture.

Bruckheimer confirmed that there are two separate screenplays for Pirates movies that are currently in Disney's possession, as reported by Cinema BlendOne of those would supposedly feature a character played by Margot Robbie and would allegedly consist of a mostly female cast.

Meanwhile, Robbie has not straight-up confirmed her involvement. However, the response she gave suggested that she met with the studio about the proposed production.

Johnny Depp Defamation Trial

Johnny Depp sued Amber Heard for $50 million in damages. The jury unanimously found that Heard could not substantiate her allegations against Depp and that she knew her claims of abuse were false when she published her 2018 op-ed.

NBC News noted that the jury determined that Heard acted with actual malice when writing her op-ed.

The jury also awarded Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages in his defamation suit.

Heard had countersued for $100 million and said she was only violent with Depp in self-defense or defense of her younger sister.

The jury found that Depp defamed Heard in one count and awarded Heard $2 million in compensatory damages, but did not grant her any punitive damages.
