Florida has recorded more than 9,000 COVID-19 cases in the past seven days, but the Sunshine State claimed that the cases of the notorious disease continue to decline.

The data was confirmed by the calculation of the Miami Herald, which was published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Tuesday.

Recent data suggests that Florida had at least 9,686 cases with 51 deaths per day. However, 87 fewer cases were recorded by the state per day.

CDC noted that at the beginning of June, Florida collectively had lower levels of COVID-19 transmission, per WEAR-TV. The CDC data, which is accurate as of June 30, then showed high levels of community transmission of COVID-19.

Despite that, the CDC data showed that the positivity rate in the sunshine state remained in the same range as before at 20 to 24%.

The data from the agency also showed that the BA.5 variant accounted for at least 54% of cases in Florida, while BA.4 variants accounted for 14.7%.
