Peruvian cops disguised as Marvel superheroes Spider-Man, Captain America, Thor, and Black Widow have carried out a Halloween drug raid in Peru and arrested four drug dealers.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Peruvian National Police said the four police officers were members of a special police squad in Peru who pretended to be promoting a Halloween concert on Saturday.

According to the New York Post, the cops dressed as Spider-Man, Captain America, Thor, and Black Widow walked casually down a street in Lima's San Juan de Lurigancho neighborhood before they raided a specific house.

Operation 'Marvel' in Peru Made Cops Dressed as Spider-Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow

Police in Peru named the operation "Marvel," which is after the comic book publisher of The Avengers, a team of superheroes.

San Juan de Lurigancho is reportedly one of the most dangerous areas in Peru. The police officers zeroed in on one house believed to be a drug den in the area.

When the four superheroes arrived at the said house, Captain America borrowed Thor's hammer to smash down a steel door and kick it down. Along with Spider-Man, Black Widow, and 10 backup police officers, Captain America and Thor entered the house and drew their guns.

What Marvel Superheroes Found Inside the House in Peru

Three men and one woman were arrested in the Halloween drug raid and now facing several drug-related charges. The surprising drug raid managed to bag some important pieces of evidence for the police.

BBC reported that police seized around 3,250 packages of cocaine paste or a crude extract of the coca leaf. They also confiscated 287 bags of cocaine and 127 bags of marijuana.

The arrested individuals were later presented to the media along with confiscated illegal drugs and other evidence against them. The four superheroes, now wearing police vests, were also there.

Police Colonel David Villanueva said the entire family living in that house dedicated themselves to the "micro-commercialization of drugs." He added that the drugs will be sold in a nearby park if the police did not seize them.

AFP reported that a kilo of cocaine paste sells for about $380 in Peru, while a kilo of cocaine hydrochloride, the purest form, sells for around $1,000.

The tactic of launching drug raids with officers in costume is a common tactic of police in Peru that has brought some notable successes in recent years.

In an anti-drug operation in 2020, two police officers dressed as Santa Claus and an elf swooped into a house in Lima to capture a suspected cocaine and dope dealer.

Other agents dressed in green, red, and white outfits with flak jackets hidden underneath joined them. They arrived in a van before breaking into the house with a big hammer.
