A 28-year-old Illinois man was shot in a disturbance on Saturday afternoon outside of Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

The Oak Lawn Police Department stated that at around 2:00 a.m., they received a complaint of a big group creating a disturbance near the hospital's emergency department door.

NBC Chicago noted that the authorities arrived just in time to hear a gunshot coming from the direction of the group's location and watch as someone ran away.

The Illinois man, identified as Brandon McGee, was found with a gunshot wound to his left eye. He was immediately sent to the emergency room.

Initial reports indicated that he had suffered severe, possibly fatal injuries.

A death report was filed with Oak Lawn police around 7:30 p.m., stating that the victim had succumbed to his wounds.

Oak Lawn Police Say the Illinois Man's Death Is Connected to Earlier Double Murder Incident

Officers quickly caught the shooter after witnesses said he was the man they saw running away from the scene.

Police said they found a loaded handgun believed to be the one used to kill the person.

The suspect, Marques Rose, a 36-year-old Chicago resident, was charged with first-degree murder.

He did not get bail Sunday, so he has to go back to court Tuesday.

McGee and Rose are said to have been part of the group causing trouble outside the hospital when the police were called.

The initial investigation shows a link between this event and a double murder in Chicago on the 800 block of W. 87th Street just before the shooting.

Nearly an hour and a half before, at 12:55 a.m., two people were reportedly killed in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the city's South Side.

A lack of information allowed responding officials to determine their ages.

Two gunshots to the chest resulted in the man's death. He was pronounced dead at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park.

The other man, who investigators say was shot in the head, was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn but later died. Officers found a pistol near the suspect at the scene.

According to ABC Chicago, no arrests have been made regarding the shooting at Auburn Gresham, but police are still investigating the incident.

Victim Was Shot While Oak Lawn Police Are on Their Way

A large group was headed to the hospital in Evergreen Park, believing that both injured guys had been transferred there.

When the group learned that the first man had been carried to Oak Lawn, they began to move towards Advocate Christ Medical Center, per Patch.

When police learned that a large gathering was traveling to Oak Lawn, they dispatched officers to the hospital emergency room entrance at 94th Street and Kilbourn to manage the crowd.

While on their way at about 2:00 a.m., Oak Lawn police heard a single gunshot near a big crowd gathered outside the ER.

When officers arrived, a big crowd formed in front of the ER, and the Illinois man was on the ground with a gunshot in his left eye.
