Whether or not Rose and Jack could have fit on the door is a question that will always be debated by "Titanic" fans, but Kate Winslet has provided a definitive answer.

Winslet quipped during her visit on the "Happy Sad Confused" podcast: "I don't f---ing know. That's the answer is I don't f---ing know."

According to Fox News, fans have wondered about this since the film's debut in 1997, so Winslet finally gave them their answer. The debate centers on the film's climactic moment, in which Rose and Jack, the film's main characters, try to survive after the ship has sunk.

Promoting her new film "Avatar," Winslet was shown an interview clip in which her "Titanic" co-star, Leonardo DiCaprio, was asked a similar question while also on the podcast.

DiCaprio joked at the time: "I have no comment," and actress Margot Robbie agreed that the door debacle was "the biggest controversy." After reflecting on the issue, Winslet said she doesn't believe they "would have survived if we had both gotten on that door."

"I think that he could have fit, but it would have tipped, and it would not have been a sustainable idea," she added. After mentioning that she and her husband, Edward Abel Smith, engaged in several water sports, Winslet established that she has good water knowledge.

The actress discussed her background in paddleboarding, surfing, and kiteboarding while she deliberated over how to address the door at the "Titanic" scene.

"So, you heard it here for the first time," Winslet said on the podcast. "Yes, he could have fit on that door, but it would not have stayed afloat."

'Titanic' Director James Cameron Conducts an Experiment Hoping to End the Debate

In an interview a few days earlier, James Cameron said he did some scientific research to find out if the character played by Leonardo DiCaprio could have lived or died.

The director noted that he paid for the "forensic study" so he would not have to think about the question again in 25 years, according to The Daily Mail.

Cameron said they had done a scientific study to crack the issue once and for all. He noted that they had a hypothermia expert do a complete forensic analysis and made a copy of the raft from the movie for a special episode that will air in February.

Cameron said they used two stunt doubles, who weighed the same as Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio and put sensors in them, put them in freezing water, and put them through a series of tests to see if they could have survived.

"The answer was there was no way they both could have survived. Only one could survive," the director noted.

Kate Winslet Suffers From Body-Shaming Following 'Titanic' Film

Kate Winslet said people made fun of her body partly due to the controversial floating door scene in James Cameron's 1997 hit movie "Titanic," the Independent reported.

During the interview at the "Happy Sad Confused" podcast, Winslet noted that the press coverage and comments about the end of the movie were "so mean."

She told host Josh Horowitz, "Apparently, I was too fat. Why were they so mean to me? They were so mean. I wasn't even f---ing fat."

Winslet said she would have dealt with the bad press differently if she could turn back the clock.
