Former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson became a popular witness after she told Jan. 6 panel that a lawyer connected to former U.S. President Donald Trump tried to sway her testimony.

Hutchinson recalled Stefan Passantino telling her that they just want to "focus on protecting the president." Passantino is a former Trump White House lawyer who represented her during her early engagements with the committee.

She added that Passantino told her that they know she is "loyal," and went on to say to just get her "in and out," and that it will be easy.

Hutchinson's testimony was included in the transcripts of testimony the Jan. 6 panel released on Thursday as it nears the release of its final report into the Capitol riot and attempts to overturn the 2020 election.

Hutchinson also detailed during her deposition how the former president "raged" against Secret Service agents and demanded to join a crowd of his supporters at the Capitol.

The former White House aid also noted that Trump showed approval for his supporters, who were carrying weapons at the time.

Cassidy Hutchinson Says Donald Trump Knew He Lost

Hutchinson noted in her September transcript of interview with the Jan. 6 committee noted that Trump has "pretty much acknowledged that he's lost."

The White House aide recalled a conversation that she had with former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, wherein Meadows told Hutchinson that Trump has told him several times that "he lost, but he wants to keep fighting it."

Hutchinson also said that Meadows would lament to her that the former president would get upset anytime the former White House chief of staff would mention the transition.

Meadows would also say that Trump was so "angry" all the time that they cannot discuss anything post-White House "without him getting mad that we didn't win."

The former president also believed that there might be a chance that he did not lose in the election, according to Hutchinson's recounting.

Jan. 6 Interview Transcripts

The House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot released the interview transcripts of 34 witnesses who were interviewed as part of the probe.

Other testimonies released include Trump's one-time national security adviser Michael Flynn, Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio, Oath Keepers leader Stewart Rhodes, and Trump-backed attorneys John Eastman and Jenna Ellis, among others.

Eastman was considered to be the architect of Trump's effort to stay in office.

Aside from the release of the interview transcripts, the Jan. 6 panel also said it would make multiple criminal referrals to the Justice Department on at least four charges against Trump.

The Justice Department is not obliged to act on the select committee's criminal referrals.

Bennie Thompson, the committee chair, said that the appointed special counsel, Jack Smith, has been actively involved in pursuing any and all the information available.

Meanwhile, the former president has slammed the Jan. 6 panel, calling it "a political Witch Hunt" and "Unselect Committee."
