Jan. 6 panel canceled the subpoena it issued to former U.S. President Donald Trump as the select committee prepares to disband.

Jan. 6 panel Chairman Bennie Thompson reportedly notified the former president's attorney on Wednesday that the subpoena against Trump has been revoked and no longer needs to follow the document requests.

Thompson wrote a letter to Trump's attorney saying that the Jan. 6 panel could no longer pursue "the specific information covered by the subpoena."

The select committee chairman added that Trump is no longer mandated to produce records in response to the subpoena.

The former president responded to the subpoena by filing a lawsuit in November in an attempt to block the order issued to him.

Trump also slammed the Jan. 6 panel after they withdraw the subpoena the committee issued against him.

He took on his social media platform Truth Social to slam the select committee, calling it the "Unselect Committee of political thugs."

Trump said that the Jan. 6 panel's withdrawal of the subpoena is just proof that the select committee knew he "did nothing wrong" or they were about to lose in court.

The former president further claimed that maybe the Federal Bureau of Investigation's involvement in "rigging the election" played a role in their decision.

In October, Trump was issued a subpoena calling for his testimony and documents regarding the Capitol riot that happened on Jan. 6 the previous year.

The Capitol riot was an incident wherein a mob of Trump supporters breached the federal government building. The event caused death and damage.

The select committee also made a criminal referral to the Justice Department regarding Trump for possible prosecution on four criminal charges, which included inciting or assisting an insurrection.

The House Select Committee also released a new batch of a transcript of interviews, including those with Donald Trump Jr. and former Trump White House aides and others.

Don Jr. explained to the committee the reasons why he texted Meadow a detailed plan on how to ensure that his father would be seated in the White House the second time around.

The former president's son said that he thought the ideas were "the most sophisticated" and "sounded plausible."

Don Jr. said in his text messages that if the plans were to fail, the Republican lawmakers in Congress could simply vote to reinstall Trump as president on January 6, 2021.

The message referred to reads "Moral High Ground POTUS must start" his second term now.

Trump lawyer Christina Bobb also revealed that Sen. Lindsey Graham vowed to be a "champion" of the former president's election fraud claims.

Bobb testified that Graham told former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to just give him "five dead voters." Bobb went on to say that the Republican senator said that he would "love to support the cause."

Former White House press secretary also said that Trump thought the Capitol rioters "looked very trashy," but rejoiced that they were "fighting for him."
