In her viral new song that many consider a diss track targeting her ex-boyfriend Gerard Pique, Shakira sang, "You swapped a Rolex for a Casio." The Spanish football legend responded to it by partnering up with Casio.

Pique, who is joining the Kings League competition in which 12 teams comprised of former players and Spanish influencers compete for the top spot, held a press conference over the weekend.

Responding to Shakira's track, he revealed that he had gotten Casio to agree to sponsor the Spanish King's League, according to NME.

"Casio has sent us wristwatches. We reached a sponsorship agreement with Casio, the King's League struck a deal with Casio," said the former FC Barcelona and Manchester United soccer star as he showed off a brand new Casio watch.

Pique was then asked if he was joking, but he answered, "I'm being serious," before handing out Casio watches to other King's League participants.

Argentina striker Sergio Aguero, who previously celebrated his country's World Cup win a little too wildly, deadpanned that Pique was able to get the Casio deal "because of Shakira's song."

Shakira Responds to Viral Song's Success

As for Shakira, the diss track's success surprised the Colombian superstar as it broke the YouTube record as the most viewed Latin song in the platform's history.

It became the most-watched Latin song in 24 hours after the video for "Out of Your League" had been watched more than 63 million times in that time period.

It was also streamed via Spotify around 14.4 million times in 24 hours, according to NME. The "Hips Don't Lie" singer took to Instagram and talked about her song's success.

She admitted that she never really thought she would become number one in the world at 45 and with a Spanish-language song.

The Colombian singer added, "I want to embrace the millions of women who stand up to those who make us feel insignificant. Women who stand up for what they feel and think, and raise their hand when they disagree, while others raise eyebrows."

She noted that these women are her inspiration, adding that these achievements are not hers but "everyone else's."

What Did the Viral Shakira Diss Song Say?

According to BBC, Shakira collaborated with Spain-based Argentinian producer and DJ Bizarrap for this four-minute pop song. The song itself was uploaded on his YouTube channel.

Shakira mostly hit at her ex-partner's cheating, saying that she was "worth two 22-year-olds," referring to Pique's cheating on her with a 22-year-old at the time of their breakup.

Aside from singing about Pique replacing a "Rolex for a Casio," Shakira also sang that he swapped out "a Ferrari for a [Renault] Twingo."

She also lamented about Pique leaving her with his mother as he played soccer and blamed him for her recent tax troubles with the Spanish government.

Shakira also made fun of his workout efforts, singing, "lots of time at the gym, but your brain needs a little work too."

Shakira, 45, separated from Pique, 35, in 2022 after more than 10 years together. They have two children.
