Former President Donald Trump was recently at a campaign event in Texas, releasing new criticisms against his potential Republican primary rival, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

During his Saturday campaign event in Waco, Texas, Trump noted that DeSantis had a small chance of winning the governor position in Florida without his endorsement, Fox News reported.

According to Trump, DeSantis told him that if he endorsed him, he would win. Trump went on to claim that the Florida governor begged him for his support in the state's Republican primary in 2018, saying, "please, please, sir, endorse me" as he acted out a crying and begging voice.

Trump already did the same form of mocking during his past campaign rallies, and they were usually a hit with the crowds. But this time, the attendees were noticeably more silent after his tirades against the governor.

A lot of analysts many have cited DeSantis' growing national profile and popularity in the key swing states as a reason the Florida governor could be a legitimate challenger to the former president.

DeSantis has yet to declare his 2024 White House bid. He recently won his reelection in Florida in a landslide.

In a mocking manner, Donald Trump imitated Ron DeSantis' alleged "pleading voice."

New York Post reported that Trump also claimed that DeSantis was "not good" on crime, which was also met with silence. The crowd returned their attention to the former president when he stopped targeting his rival.

Trump then claimed he would have been better off endorsing DeSantis' GOP rival, Adam Putnam. He added that it was "sad" he had not known the other Republican better.

Trump noted that he did rallies for DeSantis, which were very successful. The former president said it led to the governor's nomination and, eventually, to the election.

Trump noted that DeSantis launching a presidential bid was not "supposed to happen," adding that he felt backstabbed by DeSantis' reported run.

Trump said Florida was already in good condition before DeSantis became the governor, suggesting that the state was even better before the governor took over.

The former president noted that "Florida has been successful for decades," further saying it was probably "more successful than it is now."

Donald Trump vs. Ron DeSantis

Ron DeSantis has floated criticisms of Donald Trump over his legal issue about the hush money payment.

Talking about Trump's possible arrest, the governor noted in a MarketWatch report that he "don't know what goes into paying hush money to a porn star to secure silence over some type of alleged affair - I just, I can't speak to that."

DeSantis repeated his hush money comment to British journalist Piers Morgan, adding that the reported hush money was "just outside my wheelhouse." The Florida governor noted that it was not something he could speak to," The Guardian reported.

Trump replied to DeSantis' comments by posting on his Truth Social platform that "Ron DeSanctimous is not working for people of Florida" and was too preoccupied doing interviews with Morgan, who he described as a "ratings-challenged TV host from England."
