Rapper DMX was arrested in Greer, South Carolina on Tuesday night.

DMX, born Earl Simmons, was passenger in a F350 truck that was pulled over for an illegal U-turn.

Simmons, 41, was arrested after Lt. Jim Holmbe noticed the rappers face and knew that the rapper had an outstanding warrant for driving under suspension.

Officers asked Simmons to get out of the car. At that point, police say they found a bag of weed on the passenger side's armrest, where Simmons was previously sitting. After searching the car, police also found three additional bags of marijuana under the driver's floor board. Both Simmons and the driver of the truck were charged with possession.

According to police reports obtained by TMZ, Simmons smelled of alcohol and marijuana when police stopped the vehicle. Reports also state that Simmons was "very aggressive with his words and was making multiple idle threats."

According to Simmons, he had no idea marijuana was in the truck. He disputed the police officers' claims vocally. "This ain't no normal traffic stop," Simmons is heard saying on a recording his female friend made of the arrest. "18 cops, 5 cars, get the fuck out of here, man." In addition, Simmons said that the driver was not even guilty of committing a traffic violation. "It was legal...They got nothing," he said.

To make the situation more bizarre, Simmons apparently suffered an asthma attack during the arrest. The attack was small, and the rapper was treated on the scene by paramedics.

DMX was released from custody on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. and placed under house arrest, according to TMZ. It is unknown how long he will be under house arrest. It is not known whether or not Simmons has an attorney.

According to Lohud, the rap star, who gained fame with such hits as "Party Up (Up in Here)" and "Who We Be" was also arrested in Spartanburg County last year under suspicion of driving without a license.
